Do you know that God is listening to you?
In the morning, O Lord you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:2-3
Our King and our God,
We confess, we are in awe (and sometimes disbelief),
that you, our heavenly King,
listen to our cries for help,
and you answer them (Psalm. 5:2-3).
You are no dark and tyrannical king;
you are the merciful King
who rescued us
from the dark, violent, and oppressive tyrant Satan.
Because you brought us out of the domain of darkness (Colossians 1:13),
leading us from captivity to that evil tyrant (Ephesians 4:8),
we make our requests to you.
Because you’ve done more than free us from captivity—
you have adopted us as your sons and daughters,
we wait for your answer expectantly,
knowing you will do
what is best
for our good and your glory (Romans 8:28).
Because you are our King
who died for our sins
so that we might become citizens of your Kingdom (see Philippians 3:20),
and you will come again (see Revelation 22:7),
we know our waiting will not be in vain.
You have already heard our deepest cry—
for mercy and salvation,
and one day soon you will restore every thing
on earth that is now broken (see Revelation 21:5).
How we long for that day to come!
Amen.
